Job/Fellowship Opportunities @ SMMC

Roughly one-third of our graduates choose to pursue subspecialty fellowship training and/or academic positions at teaching hospitals. Our close relationship with the University of California Medical Community allows us to place our graduates in some of the most prestigious fellowships in California. Our ties with Harbor-UCLA Medical Center are particularly intimate given our constant interaction in the form of resident rotations at Harbor-UCLA, visiting professor grand rounds, Pulmonary Fellowship training, Pulmonary/Critical Care rounds, Cardiology professor rounds, and regional conferences. Research opportunities abound for those residents interested in exploring areas of interest in depth.

The majority of our graduates choose to enter into private practice, group practice, hospitalist positions, or join HMO organizations. Residents interact with private attending physicians on a daily basis, which provides a tremendous advantage in finding job opportunities in the future. Recent placements include positions at Cedars-Sinai Physicians Network, Healthcare Partners, Pro-Health Physicians Network, Lakewood Regional Group, and Kaiser-Permanente.
