Soloman Scholar
All senior residents are required to participate in Solomon Scholars, a scholarly research day held at UCLA each June. This requirement can be completed at any time during their training, so R1s and R2s are also welcome to participate. In addition, residents will present their research during a noon conference. The Project: The specific guidelines for Senior Projects at St. Mary requires that residents- 2.) Present a poster presentation during the Solomon Scholars Program, consisting of a pictorial display of your work and an informal discussion for any resident or faculty who wish to review your work. Note: The formal Solomon Scholars application is due in the spring of each year (usually in April), with the actual program held June of each year at the UCLA campus. The application will be forwarded to all Housestaff each spring to be completed in a timely fashion for submission 3.) Participate in a noon conference and present research in powerpoint format (approx 15 minutes) in May-June After prior discussion with your faculty advisor, submit a Project Proposal Form (link below) to the Senior Project Coordinator, Dr. Joyce Yeh, by the deadline of Nov. 1 of senior resident year (R3 year). Please discuss your project idea with your faculty advisor prior to submission. All submissions are subject to final approval by Dr. Chester Choi, Residency Program Director. Failure to complete a research project by the resident may result in failure to graduate. Project Timetable & Elective Rotation: Important Dates: (You must meet all deadlines to be reimbursed for your poster costs) An excellent guide for writing abstracts/papers/posters: All posters must be submitted to www.postersession.com. Each poster will be 36 (vert) by 48 (horiz) in size in the glossy laminated format. Suggested font size is Times New Roman, 36. Use the attached SMMC logo. Poster turn-around time may be up to a week, so plan accordingly. Use of other poster printing facilities may not be reimbursed in full. (total cost including shipping should be about $105). |
